What is the AMPS Music Program?
Accessing Music Promoting Success (AMPS) is an exciting new program that enables individuals to play music in a group setting, regardless of their skill or ability. This is achieved using the latest in music technology, expertly implemented with the principles of occupational therapy.
Who can benefit from the AMPS Music Program?
The AMPS Music Program is suitable for anyone who would like to experience the joy of making music with others. Until now, playing music may have been too difficult for individuals with physical and/or cognitive disabilities, typically aging adults, and/or those without musical training. The AMPS Music Program breaks down the barriers to entry, enabling a group to successfully make music in a matter of minutes.
Where does the AMPS Music Program take place?
The AMPS Music Program can be conducted wherever there is a group of individuals who want to make music! Sessions are currently booked and hosted by supportive facilities including community mental health programs, dementia day programs, vocational rehabilitation programs, schools for children with multiple disabilities, summer camps, and programs for the aging.
I know someone whose quality of life would benefit greatly from the AMPS Music Program. How can they participate?
We are currently organizing sessions throughout New Jersey. Please contact us for more information.
I am affiliated with a supportive program or facility and would like to start the AMPS music program there. How do I book sessions?
We are actively working with top facilities in New Jersey. Please contact us for information on how to include the AMPS Music Program.
Is this a music therapy program?
Not exactly. The Accessing Music Promoting Success program is an occupational therapy and music education program. We use adaptations (our customized tablet system and instructional methods) to help the individuals succeed at making music together, using the principles of occupational therapy. We are not music therapists, though our groups have reported experiencing many of the quality-of-life benefits that music brings!
